Train operation partially resumes in Pakistan

Pakistan Railways has started limited train operation across the country from today (Wednesday) with 15 up and 15 down trains facilitating passengers during Eid-ul-Fitr, Haal TV reported.

The first train departed from Lahore to Rawalpindi. Pakistan Express left from Rawalpindi to Karachi and Railcar to Lahore from Rawalpindi. Subak Kharam departed from Lahore to Rawalpindi.

Khyber Mail will leave Karachi for Peshawar (up) at 11:00 pm while from Peshawar to Karachi (down) at the same time.

Green Line Express will depart from Karachi to Margala Railway Station (up) at 9:00pm while from Margala Railway Station to Karachi (down) at 3:00pm.

Schedules of Tezgam Express, Pak Business Class, Jaffar Express, Awam Express, Millat Express and other up and down trains have also been issued.

All precautionary measures have been taken at railway stations. Furthermore, the administration has announced that tickets can only be booked online.

Passengers need to follow the following SOPs to travel by train:

a) Maintain a reasonable distance from each other

b) Travel with minimal people in an emergency

c) Train booking will be through online ticketing only. Booking offices will be closed

d) Booking will be closed after 60% occupancy

e) Sanitizer walk-through gates will be installed at various stations

f) Passengers will be allowed to enter the station one hour before the departure of the train

g) The families of the passengers will not be allowed to enter the station to say goodby/welcome to them

h) Area up to 200 meters will be closed for non-essentials

i) Medical officers and staff have been deployed at the train stop stations to ensure social distance

j) The temperature of all passengers will be checked during the journey. Keep masks, sanitizers, gloves and soap with you
